Challenge
I was contacted by a real estate agent to develop color schemes for a home that one of her clients was purchasing. First I needed to look at the furnishings in her old home before I could determine what the palette would be for her new one. Time was of the essence and all design decisions needed to be made immediately and before the sun went down—there was no lighting. The client wanted anything but white for her new walls. Most of her artwork was of ocean scenes, and she wanted a beach feel to her home.

Solutions
I used Benjamin Moore colors throughout to give the owner the beachie feel she craved. The living room features warm Alpaca with slightly darker Fairway Oaks to differentiate and accentuate the beautiful space in the dining room and bar area. Tropical Sherwood Green makes the kitchen inviting. For both the office and upstairs guest bedroom, I selected a sand color, Sundial. The office features an accent wall in conservative blue, HC156; in the guest bedroom, the accent wall is painted a deep rich plum called Cupid’s Dart. I continued the tropical theme into her bedroom and selected a lush green, Liberty Park. The owner’s first party in her new home was a luau.
