Challenge
The owner wanted the upstairs of this modern beach house to look as good as the downstairs.

Solutions
All colors used for this house were Bejamin Moore. I brought the warm color rich color of the downstairs wall Autumn Leaf up to the second floor. The same warm feel is echoed with a yellow color, Corinthian White for the upstairs family room walls. For the accent walls, the fireplace and the wall behind the bar, I selected a gray-green color Hancock Gray to emphasize the lofty architectural features of the ceiling. Light wood cabinets, dark furniture and light furniture grounded the room. The client and I discussed how they could use the unique round window next to the bar area as an inspiration for the half round fireplace, in the furniture and in the excellent metal craftsmanship by a relative, on the stair rails. The stainless steel and wrought iron gives this room a modern clean edge. The upstairs bathroom is now a sandy color, Squire Hill Bluff. To continue with the same intensity of color, the children’s bedroom was painted a soft green of Dune Grass. The fence in the patio area outside the family room was painted a lighter value of the Hancock Gray, creating a unifying look.
