Challenge
This gorgeous Spanish Revival home built in the 1930’s features lots of art and unique murals on the ceiling of the living room, dining room and hallway wall by local Long Beach artist Julius Fisher. The owners wanted to unify the different elements in their home while choosing colors to complement the artwork.

Solutions
Creamy whites for the walls and ceilings in the living room and den enhance art and rugs from around the world. Crown molding in the dining and family rooms are Benjamin Moore’s Raspberry Truffle and Merlot. The once-pink niches in the living room and stairway are now Largo Teal, selected to bring out the colors in the murals. Camel, another color found in the artwork, appears on the archways. In addition, I selected colors for the kitchen tiles, sinks, and faucets. I also chose the pattern and colors for the custom accent tiles to coincide the existing wallpaper used on the ceiling and soffet in the kitchen. At my suggestion, the owners exchanged chandeliers between the family room and dining room so that the lights would illuminate the dining room mural on the ceiling. We also determined what kind of additional lighting was needed to show off the architecture and art.
